Celebrate the Web was created by Kim Evey and Jenni Powell in April 2010 as a way to celebrate the new media/web video community of creators and supporters. The first Celebrate The Web event was held April 15th 2010 at the Acme Theatre in LA. It brought together many of the web series winners of the 2010 Streamy Awards and was a huge success.
Building on the momentum from the inaugural night, the second Celebrate The Web event was held in San Diego on July 24th 2010 during San Diego ComicCon and added Taryn O’Neill and Stephanie Thorpe as producers. The event featured panels on Sci-Fi and Fantasy/Gaming web series and was a place for the web community to gather together during the convention.
The third Celebrate the Web took place during the Anaheim International Film Festival as one of the sponsors for the New Media Expo.
The current Celebrate the Web event, called “Raising the Bar” has expanded into a web pilot festival. Web creators from all over the world will be asked to make a web pilot in seven days based off of supplied themes and elements.
